On June 19th Giulia Falcini, the Italian author of the essays dedicated to Nüshu, published by CSA Editrice, was invited to discuss the importance of promoting and protecting this language at the Beijing International Book Fair 2026. Falcini delivered a speech at the Tsinghua University stand, describing her studies and underlining how essential it is to give voice to this interesting and empowering phenomenon while preserving its roots and authenticity.

Giulia Falcini is one of the main Nushu scholars in Italy and has had the privilege to study it with the greatest Chinese expert, Zhao Liming.

With CSA Editrice, Falcini published three books exploring this peculiar writing system: "Il nüshu. La scrittura che diede voce alle donne" ("Nüshu, the script that has given voice to women"), Il leggendario Nüshu – La scrittura creata dalle donne per le donne ("The legendary Nüshu - The script created by women for women") and "IL NÜSHU. Una scrittura per resistere, cantare, ricordare" ("Nüshu, a script to resist, to sing, to remember). 

 

Giulia Falcini is represented worldwide by IBA. We congratulate her on her precious contribution at Beijing International Book Fair, we are all proud of her success in China and Italy and we thank her for making people all over the world know about Nüshu.
